A Taste of Our Ferocious Future

Posted: September 28th, 2010 | Author: Mitchel | Filed under: Green Ferocious | No Comments »

While working on this project we fantasized about the things we would tell people when it was finished; the stories we would relive and the moments we would share that defined this project and gave it character. But now, here at one end and hopefully on the verge of a new beginning, we feel it’s time to let our work speak for itself. Ladies and gentlemen, we now present to you, Green Ferocious…

Watch it here at the Green Ferocious website.

And now, for something completely unnecessary: Waking Norman 3.

It had been a tough week. Aaron and I, as we often are, were feeling the strains of being adults – working our 9 to 5’s and coming home to freelance work we had very little interest in doing. We hadn’t had much fun in a while and the long, tedious, soul-crushing days were beginning to take their toll on us. So we did the most sensible thing we could think of: take a small break from grown-up life and be kids again – to go back in time 5 years or so for just one day.

In the true spirit of our younger days, we wanted to run around and film ourselves beating each other up and only worry about devising anything that resembled a plot in between takes. We did this so many times as kids, but it was always Aaron and Jon who got to do all the fun action stuff while I ran around with the camera. This time would be different. I thought back to a similar day sometime in 2006. Aaron and Jon stayed at my house overnight and we woke up around noon to eat a healthy hamburger breakfast at Burger King. We walked over to the nearby thrift store, bought some cheap suits and decided the best thing we could do with them is film some sort of action sequence. We did just that, but got kicked out of our location (on top of a train) before we could finish. Not wanting to have wasted the previous 3 hours, we somehow came up with the idea of turning what we had filmed into a sequel for our movie from a year or so before that, Waking Norman. After another couple hours at a park, we ended up with a real treasure, Waking Norman 2: Caleb Strikes Again – probably the worst thing we have ever uploaded to YouTube.

So we thought: what better way to return to our carefree days of youth than to make probably the most unnecessary sequel since Batman & Robin?

We are pleased to announce a new section on our site: NUGGETS. It is a collection of our lesser-labored works, videos we may not have spent much time putting together, but hope you will find some joy in watching them anyway. A lot of them are pretty old, but we have sworn to create new, hopefully better ones pretty frequently starting…very soon.

In case you are wondering about the title of this post, it is from this extremely well written review of a Wendy’s restaurant.

Shooting the Fury

By virtue of the name on this website, Mitchel and I are very much interested in filmmaking. After several shorts over the years, we decided it was time to “grow up” and tackle a feature-length film. In late 2009, we began writing the screenplay for what would become “Green Ferocious.” After completing it, there was the obvious feeling of accomplishment, but what followed was an even more apparent feeling of “what do we do now?” After about a week of indecision, we finally came to the conclusion that if we are going to make this movie, we need money, and to get money, we’re going to have to showcase our talents.

Our plan was to create a short film, using two scenes from the screenplay, establishing our main characters and hopefully making something good enough to catch the eyes of potential investors. If all goes to plan, these investors will become totally enamored with our filmmaking genius, and bestow upon us the enormous amounts of money we need to bring our feature length film to life.

Hello Internet! Is this thing on?

Today marks the beginning of this website. EuphoricFilms.com!  After months of feet-dragging, minor setbacks, and arguments with Aaron, this site has finally and miraculously made it to the surface! There is not much here yet, and we’ve still got some work to do, but now that it’s up and running it should be easier for us to build and update it. We’ve got some exciting stuff coming!

A quick update on what’s been going on…

It has been a busy and exciting time for Aaron and me. We finished writing a draft of our first feature film “Green Ferocious” a couple months ago and are now in the process of getting feedback and reviewing the script. We are pretty happy with it so far and can’t wait to begin the next step in the process of taking what we’ve got in our heads and bringing it to life for others to (hopefully) enjoy. We shot a couple of scenes from the Green Ferocious script last week which we will turn into a promotional short to help us raise money to shoot the feature. It will be here for you to watch when it’s finished! We’ll have a more in depth post on the shoot soon, but for now, I’d just like to extend my most heartfelt thanks to all of the kind and talented folks who helped us out two extremely late nights last weekend: Mark, Steve, Mike, Chip, Oranda, Jon, Neil, Jerry, Brooke, Megan, and everyone at the Grand Inn Bar. You guys are seriously incredible and can’t be thanked enough. Again, more on this to come soon, including some great photos by Brooke and Megan!

Stay tuned!
